Job Description

As an industry-wide authority, is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of a database which are likely to include planning, development and troubleshooting.
Seeking a Database Administrator to assist SME level DBA(s) with both Oracle (11g or 12) and MS SQL work and other DBA work as assigned. Duties include, but are not limited to: -Identify, analyze, define, and coordinate user, customer and stakeholder needs and translates them into technical requirements. Assist business units in expressing their needs in terms that can be used to generate valid requirements. - Help business units identify technology solutions with the potential to improve business processes. Work with stakeholders as well as technical and analytical counterparts to define constraints, and develop requirements and concept of operations documentation. Work with stakeholders to identify best-fit technical solutions for business unit needs. - Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies. - Provide assistance to project or program teams including Project Management Framework. Provide conceptual design, prototype, and test cycles appropriate to a chosen technical solution. Identify and manage dependencies with other systems and elements of the IT infrastructure. - Evaluate industry offering to identify products and technologies with the potential to support the design. - Survey products and technical infrastructure as part of the system selection process. Assess system designs to validate them against expected technical parameters. Identify hardware and applications needed to complete the development process. - Develop and implement test plans for commercial off the shelf (COTS) and custom developed systems. - Coordinate and manage the resolution of inter-segment problems. Identify potential environmental impacts on systems. Record lessons learned, processes and procedures, and other pertinent quality topics in appropriate formats. - Work with project personnel to resolve schedule problems and ensure developed applications and systems are transitioned to customers in a timely manner. Validate system elements and requirements. - Ensure all product and administrative documentation is completed and maintained in order to ensure continuity and historical reference. Requires bachelor's degree or equivalent, and 16-18 years of related experience.  Demonstrated on-the-job experience designing and building relational or object-oriented databases with strong experience on backend processes and engineering
Demonstrated on-the-job experience designing, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting databases
Demonstrated on-the-job experience with Oracle preferably (Oracle 11g or 12)
Demonstrated on-the-job experience designing and managing database security
Demonstrated on-the-job experience documenting DB architecture
Demonstrated on-the-job experience with data modeling (Logical and Physical design)
Demonstrated on-the-job experience with data replication, backup, partitioning, storage, access and capacity planning
Demonstrated on-the-job experience with database upgrades or migrations
Demonstrated on-the-job experience with SQL . Clearance level is TS/SCI w/Poly required.

Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required.
