Job Description

The Video Asset Manager/Archivist shall provide asset management support. Activities include CD-ROM and DVD authoring, mastering replication, and dissemination; operation and support of an on-line media library; operation and support of a multi-format media transfer center; and standardization of folder systems, directories, and naming conventions.
The Media Archivist (MA) ingests and converts data into formatted media, researches and acquires media from vendors and other sources, and assists MSC producers and customers with media research and delivery. The MA also provides closedI captioning to MSC-produced products and soft copy dissemination.
Sets up, adjusts and diagnoses problems in broadcast quality video production equipment, and makes minor, emergency repairs, by using test instruments, diagnostic routines, and electronics tools to prepare equipment for immediate use in the studio and at field locations. Views action on video monitor and sets switches and observes dials on console to control framing, contrast, brilliance, color balance, and fidelity of image. Operates the video switcher to coordinate the studio equipment according to the director's instructions. Performs such tasks as switching from one camera to another, switching from one picture to another, superimposing multiple pictures onto one screen, and adding special effects. Under the director's instruction, assembles segments from different audio/videotapes and recorders by using a video editor to locate and transfer the segments into the precise sequence of the script. Creates a master tape of the video program. Operates the audio mixer, video camera, electronic graphics machine, audio recorder, video recorder, and duplicating rack as required by directors to provide special effects, sound, and pictures of high technical quality. Arranges for special effects by adjusting, modifying, or fabricating equipment to produce the desired effect. Operates and understands the engineering and technical aspects of broadcast quality video production equipment including but not limited to: VTR machine, Time base Correctors, Wave Form/Vector scope, and editing systems. Classifies and catalogs items according to contents and purpose by computer for file reference.REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

- Experience operating and directing the operation of broadcast quality video production equipment, including performing maintenance, and making emergency repairs.


- Typically requires bachelor's degree or equivalent, and five to seven years of related experience.
