A qualified candidate will work as part of team to provide technical leadership or specialty engineering for last mile microwave systems, satellite systems, LTE systems High Power Microwave (HPM), and or high power Radio Frequency (RF) systems for both last mile services and satellite services. Perform top level architectural design, link budgets, RF integration / development, fabrication, testing, installation, and/or troubleshooting. Assess project objectives and requirements, plan technical approaches, analyze and compile available data, develop test concepts, and document and present results. Support government procurements by developing high and low level requirements, request for information (RFI) and statement of work (SOW) documents. Apply sound mathematics, physics, systems engineering and engineering principles to execute complex technical tasks. Interface with supervisors, managers, and other professionals in the work group. Lead junior technical staff in the execution of complex technical tasks and interface with teammates, clients, and external organizations.
-Active/current Top Secret clearance with Poly is required.
-7+ years of experience with analysis, design, development or testing of components and systems relevant to RF.
-5+ years of experience with Satellite Communications across its bands (C, X, Ku, Ka) and forms, and other related technologies.
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team member.
-5 years of system engineer in developing of requirements for similar RF systems
-Knowledge or practical experience with laboratory test equipment including signal generators, spectrum analyzers and network analyzers.
-Strong knowledge and configuration skills of routing protocols to including OSPF, ISIS, EIGRP BGP, IP Multicast. Additionally, VPN and L2VPN.
-Solid understanding of theory and application of communications projects and systems to include RF networks, signaling, disaster recovery planning and response, backhaul and data services.
-Self-starter (Can do mentality) with the ability to derive requirements and help customer develop a vision / strategy to transition current architecture into new cutting edge technologies.
-Knowledge or practical experience with microwave receivers, communication links/systems, antennas, RF components, and digital signal processing techniques.
-Ability to make sound engineering decisions and recommend sound programmatic advice.
-Strong communication and analytical skills required.
-Must be willing to travel internationally and in some cases domestically (~10% potential travel).
-Firm understanding and/or working knowledge of Satellite Communications bandwidth and spectral efficiency measures to include TDMA and DSCPC technologies.
-Ability to adjust designs to meet business-required levels of cost, reliability, and functionality.
-Ability to understand, formulate and communicate complex designs with other technology partners.
-Develop technology designs, supervise the implementation of these designs, verify their proper functionality, and act as a technical consultant for any issues encountered over the project lifecycle.
-Work with interdisciplinary teams, including line-of-business staff, business technology teams, operational support teams, change management, and project management organizations to execute the design and support the implementation of these projects.
-Engages program management and product engineering teams for process and application improvement opportunities.
-Review and develop system documentation for accuracy and updates as necessary.
-Produce system level standard operating procedures to support other organizations in support of O&M of vetted system.
-Perform proof of concept and pilot implementation for all next generation hardware / software platforms.
-Work with network engineering organizations to define requirements and develop system architecture that integrates RF equipment into network topology.
-Manage and architect integration lab consisting of software and hardware systems integrating RF equipment (Satellite and last mile) into network for testing and validation purposes.
-Deliver network engineering standards and reference architecture documentation of all new design decisions for consumption by engineering, implementation, and operations teams.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field and seven to nine years of relevant experience are required but for this position a Bachelor's Degree in IT related subject or higher plus 4-7 years; Doctorate with 2 years; Masters with 3 years; Associates with 8 years; or high school or GED with 10 years experience is acceptable.
Candidate must have the physical ability to support testing and development work that includes carrying semi-heavy equipment, up/down ladders, and towers up to 50 feet.
