Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The DPS team is seeking a highly motivated Oracle Database Administrator to assist in supporting the daily operations and maintenance of our Oracle Clustered RAC environment. This individual must be a self-starter who is able to work in a fast paced, results driven environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and Administrate Production level Oracle RAC databases running ASM, RMAN, AWR, ADDM and shell scripting
  • Demonstrated excellent skills in problem diagnosis, troubleshooting, performance monitoring and tuning
  • Excellent knowledge of Oracle database RMAN.
  • Ability to perform both Oracle and also operating system performance monitoring and the necessary adjustments.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Security best practices including Encryption of Data at Rest and in Transit, Oracle Wallets, role based privileges.
  • Write/maintain SQL and PL/SQL stored program units/packages and maintain coding standards.
  • Experience in Query optimization, debugging, and performance tuning for improving performance.
  • Write unit tests (document and code) for the PL/SQL stored program units/packages
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure the code written complies with the company standards and policies
  • Interact with all levels of an organization in a professional, diplomatic, and tactful manner


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Typically requires bachelor's degree or equivalent, and seven to nine years of related experience. Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an Oracle Database Developer with PL/SQL experience

- Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a DoD secret clearance

- Oracle 10g, 11g, 12c experience.
- PL/SQL programming skills
- SQL tuning experience
- Proven record of accomplishment working in all aspects of the software development life cycle
- Should have good communication and writing skills
- Candidates must be willing to work independently and/or as part of a team in an energetic, team-oriented environment managing systems of varying size/complexity with a fast turn-around time
- Apply innovation and improvement to the development/support processes
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively is a necessity
- BS in Computer Science or related discipline
- Security+ Certification

  • Excellent skill in Oracle RAC, ASM, RMAN, AWR, ADDM and shell scripting
  • Demonstrated excellent skills in problem diagnosis, troubleshooting, performance monitoring and tuning
  • Excellent skills in managing Oracle DataGuard and database restore and recovery
  • Ability to perform both Oracle and also operating system performance monitoring and the necessary adjustments.
  • Excellent knowledge of Oracle backup and recovery scenarios.

 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required.
