Position Description:

The successful candidate is one who has had repeated success commanding respect as an articulate, creative problem solver comfortable acting as a trusted advisor and thought leader to senior Government customers, giving them expert advice on technical tradeoffs and risks, as well as designing technical solutions and commanding the respect of the highly technical engineers who will implement the solutions. USCIS currently employs a reactive approach to requirements for a Baseline Image, without a mission specified. With the growth of the agency and its customers, an increased need for an agency-wide unified and collaborative approach to imaging activities is recognized. The team creates, maintains and releases the OS images for our commercial products consisting of Windows 7/10, Server 2012/16, iOS, Linux and Mac OS. The team is also responsible for software packaging, deployment and for managing the lifecycle of the operations applications administered.

Job Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will be designing and developing OS image solutions for new Windows/Apple/Linux servers.  These images will be developed in a lab environment where they will be tested and documented. 
  • Once they have been validated, the successful candidate will deploy them into the production environment.

Required skills

  • At least 5-7 years of experience in the IT industry; experience with government information systems preferred
  • Experience with OS, iOS and Linux OS imaging technologies & procedures
  • Experience with endpoint encryption technologies
  • Experience with End-Point / Mobile management
  • Experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
  • Experience managing WSUS/SCCM patching processes
  • Root cause investigation experience with OS and applications issues
  • Device/peripheral compatibility and driver testing
  • Able to research and implement new technologies
  • Evaluate equipment thoroughly and provide expert advice for a potential solution
  • Maintain quarterly images and performing patching as needed

Other desired skills

  • Scripting skills of Powershell, Python, Bash, etc. for OS hardening and/or group policy
  • Experience with Microsoft System Center Orchestrator (SCORCH)
  • Update 3rd party applications and images as needed

Clearance Required: Public Trust

Education: Bachelor’s degree or 5 -7 years’ experience.
