Job Description


What You’ll Get to Do:

As the DBA/IAO, you will manage all aspects of the database operations and ensure the program maintains the proper IA posture as outlines by the government. The ideal candidate will provide Database Administration for the KDSS/CMS platforms while being responsible for administering, creating and maintaining all databases required for development, testing and production usage.

  • Tune the database, monitor database logs and install software and associated patches
  • Install database and patches
  • Perform after hours support for incidents and ASIs
  • Configure and manage replication and/or cluster environment software
  • Update technical leads and management of incident or incident status
  • Allocate table spaces for database requirements
  • Create/modify/delete database instances
  • Work with service desk personnel
  • Manage and update assigned tickets
  • Provide information for data calls
  • Document and obtain approval for all changes
  • Develop/maintain system recovery plans
  • Coordinate with other support entities as required
  • Monitor production systems
  • Secure database environment, including the application, remediation and mitigation of database STIGs
  • Implement CyberCom CTO/FRAGO/INFOCON requirements
  • Resolve vulnerability scan results
  • Perform annual Security Readiness Reviews
  • Participate in audits for customer/site accreditation
  • Create and update POA&Ms
  • Manage user accounts for workload/database support
  • Ensure privileged database passwords are changed/maintained
  • Perform root cause analysis for problem management
  • Maintain Vulnerability Management System (VMS) for database STIG results and assist the IAO with related Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M)



More About the Role:

Provide demonstrated performance in related technology, especially creating and managing large and complex databases on a variety of platforms.  Familiar with data organization, normalization, and security issues and proven experience in Oracle and Oracle Multitenant.  Has experience in the maintenance and optimization of large mission critical databases. Is familiar with security measures, data and user rights assignments, backup strategies, and report generation.  Functional Responsibilities: works closely with Program Manager or Technical Team Lead to ensure development or analysis remains on schedule.

Information Assurance Officer (IAO)

  • In coordination with the IAM, initiate protective or corrective measures when an IA incident or vulnerability is discovered
  • Ensure that IA and IA-enabled software, hardware, and firmware comply with appropriate security configuration guidelines
  • Ensure that DoD information system recovery processes are monitored and that IA features and procedures are properly restored
  • Ensure that all DoD information system IA-related documentation is current and accessible to properly authorized individuals
  • Implement and enforce all DoD information system IA policies and procedures, as defined by its security certification and accreditation documentation
  • Generate VMS Reports when necessary
  • Record Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) entries into VMS
  • Record Designated Approving Authority (DAA) Risk Acceptance (DRA) entries into VMS
  • Update findings to proper status (Fixed, Open, Not a Finding, etc.) within VMS
  • The IAO shall assist the KDSS/CMS Information Assurance Manager (IAM) in meeting the duties and responsibilities outlined below:
  • Provide the IAM with situational awareness of updates to VMS
  •  Develop and maintain an organization or DoD information system-level IA program that identifies IA architecture, IA requirements, IA objectives and policies; IA personnel; and IA processes and procedures
  • Ensure that information ownership responsibilities are established for each DoD information system, to include accountability, access approvals, and special handling requirements
  • Ensure the development and maintenance of IA certification documentation according to DoD Instruction 5200.40 (reference (n)) by reviewing and endorsing such documentation, and recommending action to the DAA
  • Maintain a repository for all IA certification and accreditation documentation and modifications
  • Ensure that compliance monitoring occurs, and review the results of such monitoring
  • Ensure that IA inspections, tests, and reviews are coordinated

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

Typically has a University Degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience and minimum 7 years of related work.

Certifications Required:

Must currently have or be able to obtain one of the following certifications by 1 April 2018

- Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)

- Certified Information Systems Security

   Professional (CISSP)

- GIAC Security Leadership Certification (GSLC).
