Job Description

What You’ll Get to Do:

The Systems Administrator will be responsible for Windows servers and the operating systems software and its successful integration with the hardware and applications software of the major computing systems across the organization. You will also be responsible for installation and maintenance of the Windows-based operating configurations on all organization Windows servers and desktops and also serve as technical referent on Engineering Review Boards considering all additions to or changes to the operating environment. This position requires considerable knowledge of operating systems, organizations operating environment, network requirements, and ability to anticipate impact on respective operating systems to include: Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office and MS Project, various utility applications. This position also requires considerable knowledge of the organizational standards for operating configurations, security constraints, and procedures for managing organization software.

  • Responsible for installation and maintenance of the Windows-based operating configurations on all organization Windows servers and desktops and also serve as technical referent on Engineering Review Boards considering all additions to or changes to the operating environment.
  • Position requires considerable knowledge of operating systems, organizations operating environment, network requirements, and ability to anticipate impact on respective operating systems to include: Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office and MS Project, various utility applications.
  • Position requires considerable knowledge of the organizational standards for operating configurations, security constraints, and procedures for managing organization software.
  • Duties and Responsibilities include:
  • Install and maintain the Windows-based operating configurations on all organization servers and desktops.
  • Troubleshoot problems that may involve applications and the network.
  • Provide technical support to applications and utility developers on requirements for integration into the operating environment.
  • Provide guidance and technical assistance as needed.
  • Maintain and update documentation on the operating systems configuration.
  • Manage software life cycles.
  • Participate in review boards for all changes or additions to the standard configuration within the organization.
  • Participate in various design reviews.
  • Provide ability to work with system developers to elicit requirements and engage in joint project planning.
  • Possess working knowledge of project management techniques to plan and execute projects.
  • Provide ability to research the latest technological developments in the relevant operating systems to identify impact on organization operating systems and to anticipate changes.
  • Provide application deployment support on COTS including Custom Applications, Cloud and physical based, and/or Open Source services.
  • Coordinate between multiple client branches, functions, and enterprise services.
  • Serve as a primary technical interface, responsible for successful integration of the operating systems, hardware, applications, and software across the sponsor’s organization.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve application and server disruptions and restoration issues.
  • Install, patch, and upgrade applications within and across enterprise environment, and maintain the Windows-based operating configurations on all organization servers and desktops.
  • Troubleshoot problems that may involve applications and the network.
  • Provide technical support to applications and utility developers on requirements for integration into the operating environment.

  • IBM Lotus Certified Admin (Notes Domino 8 or 9)
  • IBM Lotus Certified Developer
  • MS Windows 2008, 2012
  • MS Networking Essentials
  • LINUX System Administrator Full Performance
  • IT Service ManagementPast experience interfacing w/all GCS components

Education and Experience:

Candidate must have one of the following:

  • 10 Years of job related experience and High School/GED diploma
  • 8 Years of job related experience and Associate degree
  • 4 Years of job related experience and Bachelor’s degree
  • 3 Years of job related experience and Master’s degree
  • 2 Years of job related experience and Doctorate
