What You’ll Get to Do:
The Systems Administrator (SA) will provide application deployment support on COTS, Custom Applications, Cloud, and/or Open Source services on both Windows and Linux platforms. The SA will also provide support of system infrastructure for operating systems including Windows 2008/2012 and Linux in a 24X7 operating environment; and coordinate between multiple client branches, functions, and enterprise services. The SA will also serve as a primary technical interface, responsible for successful integration of the operating systems, hardware, applications, and software across the sponsor’s organization. In addition, the SA will be responsible for identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving application and server disruptions and restoration issues.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
•Install, patch and upgrade applications within and across enterprise environment, and maintain the Windows-based operating configurations on all organization servers and desktops.
•Troubleshoot problems that may involve applications and the network. Provide technical support to applications and utility developers on requirements for integration into the operating environment.
•Provide guidance and technical assistance as needed.
•Manage software life cycles.
•Provide second-level problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems, escalating and communicating status to sponsor’s management and internal customers of priority and high-visibility issues.
•Oversee application development, testing, and QA planning.
•Provide application integration support.
•Provide recommendations and implementing process and tool improvements to enhance the overall efficiency of our governed systems.
•Maintain inventory, change management, and configuration controls.
•Act as a cross-functional liaison between programmers, developers, O&M, and management.
•Continue the improvement of system processes through innovation; the development of cutting edge philosophies; and the implementation of security’s best practices.
•Perform technical evaluations, diagnostics, analysis, and troubleshooting for all servers and applications.
•Maintain industry awareness by attending conferences, and seminars.
•Lead team meetings; providing briefings for leadership; communicating system/application outages; providing weekly status reports.
•Understand technical workflow procedures and maintain corresponding architectural documentation.
•Provide server administration, performance monitoring, maintenance, and software updates.
•Create service requests for internal and external service providers.
•Oversee disaster recovery viability; develop data capturing schedules and routines; and implementing data backups/restoration.
•Provide Tier II and Tier III support; managing change/service requests; and updating knowledge base repositories.
•Provide operational pager response duties.
•Experience developing, installing or upgrading applications of at least one of the following types: COTS, Cloud, and Open Source.
•Experience managing projects and planning application deployment within an enterprise.
•Recent experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), specifically, creating and maintaining VPCs, creating instances, and templates.
•Possess self-starter qualities, including initiative and project ownership and comfort interfacing with senior management.
•Experience coordinating between multiple branches and function groups within an enterprise.
•Ability to produce presentations, staff briefings, and status reports.
•Experience working in Windows and Linux network operating environments.
Education and Experience:
Candidate must have one of the following:
•Windows and LINUX server installation, configuration, and management.
•Experience working within the SDLC framework.
•Understanding of the ITIL foundational model.
