Maintain Eyewitness Identification Research Portal
Prepare exhibits for trial such as visual materials and research articles
Must have basic legal knowledge, including knowledge of standard legal citation to cite check legal motions and memorandum and must have sufficient experience with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw to perform basic legal research.
Requires excellent written and oral communication skills, thorough knowledge and hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
Role also requires basic familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of e-discovery procedures and resources. Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important.
Specialized experience participating in complex federal investigations and prosecution involving violent criminalities such as armed assaults, robberies, conspiracies, kidnappings, homicides, and possession / distribution of illegal narcotics
Compiles, prepares, summarizes, and assists with relevant materials (indictments, motions, sealed court filings, electronic court filings, subpoenas, affidavits, warrants, briefs, ect.) for use by federal law enforcement, prosecutors, and district or superior courts
Prepares various legal documents to include come-ups, CANS, Attorney Special Requests (ASRs), writs of habeas corpus, grand jury and trial subpoenas, interrogatory requests, and documentation relevant to acquiring evidence or testimony
Supports the criminal investigation process by working with other organizations including federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies such as FBI, ATF, HSI, DEA, ICE, IRS, and MPD
Practices complex investigation and enforcement principles and procedures, criminal and case law precedents, administrative and legal protocol and methodology
Holds substantial knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations concerning criminal and other investigations
Aids attorneys in taking telephone calls or interviewing victims, witnesses, cooperators, and suspects
Provides assistance and guidance to colleagues to work collectively as a team
Prepares, organizes, tracks, and indexes discovery and other exhibit materials used at trial using Trial Director
Summarizes, orders, and manages depositions and other transcripts while corresponding with court reporters and the budget and finance department
Performs wiretap analyses and writes summaries and transcripts of pertinent phone calls
Performs advanced legal research using Lexis Nexis and Westlaw
Manages, tracks, and maintains high profile cases as well as scheduling and/or keeping a calendar of events such as debriefings, hearings, trial dates, travel, and hotel accommodations
Conducts all aspects of trial preparation, including litigation case management; serve as litigation support in court proceedings and trial
Reviews documents for relevance and privilege according to established guidelines and criteria
Researches and analyzes criminal history reports using information found in NCIC/WALES, JACCS, JUSTIS, and PRISM
Develops and enters various case material into a computer database and prepare charts, graphs, and tables to illustrate results; Prepares large photos, exhibits, audio and video production to be used in courtroom
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Requires paralegal certificate.
At least one year of litigation paralegal experience required; trial experience very helpful.
Automated litigation support experience valued.
