Job Description

Seeking a Systems Engineer of experience, to serve as Microsoft Tools Systems Administrator for a Navy IT support contract. Under supervision, maintains data files and control procedures for a system of networked computers.  Work will be performed in Yokosuka, Japan.

Responsible for resolving IT hardware and software infrastructure (servers, network, security, etc.) issues using systems analysis techniques and procedures to ensure appropriate function of hardware, software or system functional specifications. Analyzes, troubleshoots and resolves issues with IT infrastructure including user systems, servers, storage and network connectivity. Provides system administration for assigned infrastructure and establishes and maintains security as it relates to users. Applies security patches and operating system upgrades to ensure the security and integrity of the technical environment. Supports new infrastructure projects. Maintains all configuration documentation for assigned infrastructure.


  • Installs, upgrades, configures, tests, maintains and supports operating system software in a production environment 
  • Participates in reviewing performance logs and monitors system performance.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves basic level system hardware, software and communications problems and aids in performing configurations and adjustments to enhance database file capacity; performs automated and manual backup and restore processes.
  • Installs, configures and tests software packages.
  • Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
  • Performs daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media.
  • Performs regular file archival and purge as necessary
  • Manages installation, maintenance and support of complex technical infrastructures, hardware, and system software components.
  • Manages and tunes platforms to ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved.

Required Skills:

  • Systems Administration certification and work experience. Experience may be earned from work or academic pursuits.
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2/2016
  • Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM)
  • Backup Solutions (CommVault, Veritas)
  • Microsoft Active Directory & Group Policy
  • Syslog, Event Collector & Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) (Splunk, Enterprise Security Manager (ESM), etc) desirable
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012/2014/2016
  • Oracle Database desired
  • Installation, operations, and maintenance of the below systems infrastructure components:
  • Servers & System appliances  
  • NAS/SAN Storage
  • VMWare vSphere & vCenter
  • Brocade Fibre switches desired
  • Deploying/managing/optimizing servers in virtualized (VMWare) environment.
  • Developing PowerShell scripts.
  • Utilizing change and configuration management processes and procedures (ITILv3)
  • Must be able to obtain a favorably-adjusted SSBI or SSBI-PR updated within the past 5 years
  • - U.S. citizenship (Foreign Nationals must have a CNO-approved waiver)
  • Must meet IAT (Information Assurance Technical) Level II certification criteria specified in DoD 8570.01-M
  • Security + CE & OS Certification Required
  • Security Clearance: Secret w SSBI Investigation type

Desired Skills:

  • Familiar with DoD network accreditation processes and security audits
  • Familiar with DoD Information Assurance (IA) requirements and practices
  • Experience (with) to include at least one of the following: MS Windows Server System Administration

Education and Experience:

  • Typically requires bachelor's degree or equivalent and minimum two years of related experience with 4+ years working in large scale enterprise/global networks in a high paced diverse environment. 4+ years of related technical experience working with System & Enterprise Management Tools (logging, monitoring, and performance analysis systems)
