Review / analyze enterprise infrastructure computing and storage needs, computer system capabilities, workflows, and scheduling limitations. May analyze or recommend commercially-available software.
Analyze and study complex system requirements, as well as related user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing enterprise systems.
Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
Apply industry / organizational best practices and supporting processes for the planning, analysis, design and engineering of new information systems / emerging enterprise technologies.
Provide engineering support to expand or modify enterprise infrastructure systems to serve new purposes or improve workflow.
Test, maintain, and monitor computer programs and systems, including coordinating the installation of computer programs and systems.
Support virtualization and aggregation of the underlying physical hardware resources across multiple systems and virtual resources.
Monitor managed enterprise infrastructure platforms to identify performance issues and ensure the overall system integrity.
Build servers and associated storage volumes to meet system architecture and associated requirements.
Identify system integrity issues and solutions for the full system life cycle from concept to disposal.
Provide staff and users with assistance solving computer-related problems, such as malfunctions and program problems.
Prepare technical engineering documentation, including both system-level and user-level documentation. Develop engineering solutions, automated when feasible, that may be transitioned to an O&M organization.
