You would provide strategic and operational analysis and policy advice on wide range of areas, but especially the use of DoD assets to support domestic security and civil support activities.  In a very high tempo environment you could expect to draft and review/edit white papers, interagency correspondence, briefing materials, policy guidance, and other documents as directed.    This Policy Analyst will travel within CONUS up to 25% to participate in meetings, forums, conferences, etc.  This work will be performed in government spaces in the Pentagon, the Mark Center in Alexandria, or other government facilities in the National Capitol Region.<br/><br/>In this role, and with an extremely rapid turn-rate, you could expect to:<br/><br/>Participate in senior level discussion forums on homeland defense domains and civil support operations<br/><br/>Conduct maritime defense/security research, strategy analysis, implementation analysis, operational planning, or related matters regarding maritime threats, security against threats, climate change and its effects on maritime activities in the littorals, in-land waterways, and the Arctic.<br/><br/>Maintain situational awareness of maritime daily operations of the U.S. Coast Guard and U. S. Navy and producing technical assessments for U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Navy strategies and plans that inform maritime defense and security activities.<br/><br/>Coordinate and staff draft policies for comment, address critical and substantive reviewer issues, brief senior leaders on critical issues and incorporate resolutions into final policy documents<br/><br/>Review and assess the impact of new or proposed policies and provide a recommended course of action to appropriate management officials<br/><br/>Maintain awareness of public policy issues, especially concerning authorities for DoD support to civil authorities and homeland defense activities in air and maritime domains.<br/><br/>May serve as an Action Officer on a variety of topics<br/><br/>Be a recognized subject matter authority in the field<br/><br/><br/><b><b>Required Qualifications:</b></b><br/>Bachelor's degree or equivalent, and twelve to fifteen years experience or pertinent advanced degree and two years experience<br/><br/>Completion of military staff college or war college<br/><br/>Strong understanding of Executive Branch interagency organization and DoD component organizations and missions<br/><br/>Experience in operations, force planning, or exercise design and execution at Service, Combatant Command, or Joint Staff level.
