Troubleshoots electronic or electro-mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, proto-type models or specialized test equipment. Management reserves the right to review and revise this document at any time.<br/><br/><b>POSITION SUMMARY:</b><br/>Under close supervision, evaluates, recommends, installs and supports local area network (LAN) hardware and software. Installs hardware and software application programs on the LAN. Provides guidance to users in less complex LAN Administration processes. Provides software and hardware familiarization with users. Coordinates third-party maintenance for network equipment and troubleshoots problems with department users and department LAN administrators.<br/><br/><b>RESPONSIBILITIES:</b><br/>Administers network workstations, utilizing one or more networking protocols and/or one or more UNIX-based or non-UNIX based operating systems.  Investigates basic user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions.  Performs software and application development, installation, and upgrades.  Maintains site licenses for department/organization/client.  Troubleshoots networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.   Participates in conducting various training and instruction for system users on operating systems, relational databases, and other applications; assist users in maximizing use of networks and computing systems in less complex LAN Administration processes.   Helps to anticipate communication and networking problems and implement preventive measures.   Establishes and performs routine maintenance programs following company and vendor standards.  Ensures timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability.   Installs enhancements and operating procedures that optimize network availability.  Maintains confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network. Documents network problems and resolutions for future reference.  Works with other network professionals as directed to coordinate efforts, resolve cross-team issues and communicate changes.<br/><br/><b>EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE</b>:<br/>- Typically requires bachelor's degree or equivalent, and zero to two years of related experience.<br/>- At least one year's experience with JAVA messaging and basic networking data flow; the Toolsuite: HP Openview, OML, GEMS, TOPVIEW, NNM9i, CARS, COMMONVIEW, and TUMMS.<br/>- Required IT Training and Certifications: IAT Level I certification<br/>- This position requires candidates to currently hold a TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance.  Due to the classified nature of the program we are unable to advertise the specific polygraph.
