Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under minimal direction, formulates and defines system scope and objectives. Establishes procedures to solve complex problems regarding system equipment capacity and limitations, operating time and output. Prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written. Provides guidance to less experienced analyst/programmers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Formulates and develops detailed specifications, code, documentation and related customer information required to complete program development maintenance activities; prepares program logic flow charts and processing diagrams.
Formulates and defines system scope and objectives for assigned projects.
Prepares detailed specifications for programs.
Responsible for program design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation.
Analyzes, codes, tests and documents complex programs.
Creates and/ or modifies complex programs to meet user requirements. This includes testing program and system changes.
Analyzes and documents existing application systems to determine processing requirements.
Confers with project manager and representatives of departments affected by program to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, extent of automatic programming and coding use and modification, and inclusion of internal checks and controls.
Identifies and designs applications system alternatives to achieve the needs of the customer's environment.
Designs and develops client applications for microcomputers; meets with clients to determine program requirements.
Prepares documentation and related information.
Tests and corrects program errors by altering program steps and sequence.
Analyzes, reviews, and rewrites programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
Identifies problem areas and recommends solutions and standards.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in developing in various report languages including Cognos, BIRT, SQR, Business Objects.
Experience in requirements gathering with the customer and working with functional staff to train and test reports according to requirements.
Proficient in SQL.
Experience in various COTS packages including Momentum Financials, ERP, Oracle, Maximo.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Typically requires bachelor's degree or equivalent, and five to seven years of related experience.
