POSITION SUMMARY:
As a senior technician, usually works without established procedures, performing a wide variety of nonstandard complex tasks in the electronic, mechanical, electro-mechanical, or optical areas. Evaluates and resolves calibrating and troubleshooting problems. May design and/or improvise equipment, tools, and fixtures. Provides team leadership to lower level technicians. Typically requires extensive knowledge of theory and principles.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tests, calibrates, and repairs complex electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment for conformance to established standards, and formulates calibration standards. Determines correct sequencing of testing and calibration procedures for instruments and equipment, according to blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and other specifications. Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate, and calibrate other instruments and test equipment. Oversees disassembly of instruments and equipment, using hand tools, and inspects components for defects. Measures parts for conformity with specifications, using micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments. Aligns, repairs, replaces, and balances component parts and circuitry. Reassembles and calibrates instruments and equipment. Devises formulas to solve complex problems in measurements and calibrations. Develops and executes plans for the performance of failure analysis and or materials analysis. Maintains complex databases for the control of work, calibration of equipment, and expendable material. Writes detailed analysis reports for DPA, failure analysis, and materials analysis. Assists engineers in design, development, and evaluation of new products and recommends product improvements or manufacturing modifications. Designs, develops, and coordinates building of experimental, prototype models, or test fixtures. Determines types of tests to be performed; approves and suggests modifications to testing equipment; and analyzes test results to evaluate performance of products or equipment.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Typically requires bachelor's degree or equivalent, and two to four years of related experience. Technical trade school or military training preferred.
Shall have ten (10) years experience integrating systems using multiple operating systems.
Shall have four (4) years experience performing all aspects of the integration and test of the system including installing the hardware into the racks, labeling cables, running cables, building the system to drawing package, performing quality assurance, loading operating system, loading applications, and conducting all levels of testing in regard to system.
Shall have six (6) years experience in developing overall integration & test strategy, and schedule test plans & scripts.
Shall have three (3) years direct experience with intelligence community or intelligence activity.
SECURITY CLEARANCE:
Must have a current TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required. May spend a lot of time standing due to laboratory conditions.
